The waiting

These crow women, or ladybirds, stand in quiet vigil, embodying the solemn anticipation of new life. Their presence is an allegorical nod to the virgin birth, symbolizing purity and the miraculous nature of creation. Through their watchful forms, the sculpture captures a moment of profound mystery and sacred expectation, inviting reflection on themes of innocence, transformation, and the origin of life itself. The sculpture is crafted from mixed media and features an antique bronze finish, enhancing its timeless and evocative quality. This piece continues the narrative established in my earlier work depicting crow men and their procession to the temple of the Sun. It explores themes of ritual, transformation, and the mysterious journey between worlds, inviting viewers to reflect on the intersection of nature, myth, and human experience. The varied textures and materials add depth to the form, while the bronze finish lends an air of ancient heritage, grounding the contemporary concept in a sense of historical continuity.
