Form 4
This sculpture embodies the dual nature of stone weathering. The upper portion is polished and smooth, reminiscent of river-worn stone shaped gently by flowing water over time. In contrast, the lower section remains raw and textured, capturing the harsh, rugged effects of wind and rain eroding the surface. Together, these contrasting finishes highlight the natural processes that shape stone, offering a visual narrative of endurance and transformation. This piece is carved from Portuguese limestone, known for its exceptional hardness. Although it presents challenges during the carving process, the finished work is truly distinctive. The high polish not only enhances its visual appeal but also provides durable protection, allowing it to withstand outdoor conditions effectively.
